With an unwavering passion for the mountains and over 20 years of field experience, Suneel Kumar stands as a respected figure in Indian mountaineering and adventure travel. Since beginning his journey as a guide in 2000, he has led dozens of successful expeditions across the Himalayas, earning recognition for his expertise, leadership, and commitment to safety in extreme environments.
Suneel’s mountaineering portfolio includes notable ascents of some of India’s most iconic peaks—Mount Nun Kun, Hanuman Tibba, CB13, CB14, Mount Kangyatse, Mount Friendship, Stok Kangri, Sheti Dhar, and others. His deep familiarity with high-altitude terrain, along with his tactical skills, make him one of the most reliable names in Himalayan exploration.
Beyond mountaineering, Suneel has guided advanced trekking expeditions across Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand, and Sikkim, including the Pin Parvati Pass, Frozen River (Chadar) Trek, Parang La, and remote Zanskar routes. He is also an experienced cycling expedition leader, having completed the grueling Manali to Khardung La ride multiple times, in addition to trips across Spiti and other rugged regions of the Indian Himalayas.
Professionally trained at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS), Suneel has completed his Basic, Advanced, and Method of Instruction (MOI) mountaineering certifications. He further strengthened his credentials with an international-level training program from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) and holds certifications in Wilderness First Aid, River Rafting Rescue, and Basic Paragliding.
As a co-founder of Into Wild Himalaya, Suneel not only leads high-risk expeditions but also manages core operational and training functions. His commitment to adventure education, risk management, and mentoring makes him a cornerstone of the company and a respected leader in India’s outdoor industry.
