Arrive in Sethan, a tranquil alpine village near Manali. Meet your instructors, settle into your guesthouse or camp, and get familiar with the week ahead. Gear distribution follows—skis, boots, poles, avalanche equipment, and mountaineering tools. The evening theory session covers gear layering, physical prep, and course expectations.
Begin your ski journey with foundational drills—stance, gliding, snowplow braking, and basic turning. Train on gentle, groomed slopes ideal for first-timers. Focus on balance, coordination, and body awareness. A post-session video review offers insights into your form and progress.
Progress to snowplow turns, edge control, and smooth directional changes. Depending on conditions, practice ski lifts or skinning techniques. Get hands-on with mountaineering gear like crampons, ice axes, and skins. Evening sessions focus on avalanche awareness, terrain reading, and snow science basics.
Learn how to ascend snow slopes using ski skins, kick turns, and efficient pacing. Practice navigation with map and compass in alpine terrain. End the day with a short, guided backcountry descent—your first taste of touring in real Himalayan conditions.
Combine skiing with mountaineering skills as you navigate snow, rock, and ice. Learn to self-arrest with an ice axe, use crampons safely, and manage rope systems. A short ridge climb or summit attempt (weather permitting) adds a thrilling high-altitude challenge.
Put your new skills to the test with a full circuit: approach, climb, and ski descent. Instructors will conduct a practical assessment and share feedback. Recap key safety and movement techniques, then celebrate your progress with certificate distribution before departure.
