Meet your Into Wild Himalaya guide in Manali at 8:00 AM for introductions and a safety briefing. After an early breakfast, drive to the upper Dhundi Valley, a well-known hub for winter and summer adventure activities. The hike begins on open trails leading toward the upper valley, with gradual elevation gain to help the body acclimatise.
As the trail climbs higher, grasslands give way to rocky alpine terrain. The route offers uninterrupted views of surrounding peaks, with Hanuman Tibba rising prominently to the west. The steady ascent is demanding but non technical, with regular breaks for hydration and photography.
Reach Beas Kund, a small glacial lake considered the origin of the Beas River. Surrounded by high Himalayan peaks, the setting is both peaceful and dramatic. Enjoy a packed lunch near the lake while taking in views of Shitidhar, Friendship Peak, and nearby ridgelines. Time is given to rest, explore the area, and absorb the high-altitude environment.
After spending time at Beas Kund, begin the descent along the same route back to Dhundi Valley. The downhill walk is long but relaxed, offering changing light and perspectives of the valley below. By early evening, return to the roadhead and drive back to Manali, completing a demanding yet rewarding moderate day hike near Manali.
