The Silk Shadows Indus to Nubra Trail India is a high-altitude Himalayan trek that connects the Indus Valley with the remote landscapes of Nubra through the Digar La Pass. At 5,360 m, this pass offers sweeping views of snow-clad peaks, desert valleys, and the rugged terrain that once formed part of the historic Silk Route.

Trekkers journey across quiet Ladakhi villages, dramatic ridgelines, and the glacial approaches to Digar La before descending toward the Nubra Valley. The trail follows part of the Shyok River corridor, revealing a blend of Buddhist culture, mountain traditions, and striking Himalayan desert scenery. The adventure ends with a scenic drive over Khardung La, one of the world’s highest motorable passes, returning to Leh to conclude this culturally rich and challenging Himalayan trek.

Day 3Sightseeing around Leh

Day 7Trek to Agyam Along the Shyok River

Trekking Time: 5 hours

Day 11Drive from Khalsar to Hunder via Diskit

Day 12Drive from Hunder to Panamik via Tirit

Retrace your journey through the Shyok Valley before diverting toward Nubra. Stop at Tirit, a traditional hub for Ladakhi handicrafts, wool, and jewelry. Continue to Panamik, once a vital stop on the ancient Silk Route. In the evening, visit the 250-year-old Samour Gompa before camping overnight in Sumour.

Day 13Drive from Samour to Leh via Khardung La

We continue trekking in the rain with ponchos. In case of heavy snow or unsafe conditions, we may alter or cancel the route.

Yes, filtered or boiled water is provided at camps. Carry two reusable bottles (1L each). Avoid buying plastic bottles.

Can I store extra luggage somewhere?

Yes, you can leave it safely at the base camp or our partner hotel. Avoid storing valuables like cash or jewelry.

Are there toilets on the trek?

Yes, but they’re basic. Expect dry pit toilets at campsites. Carry toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Will I get mobile network or electricity?

Mobile signal is limited—only BSNL or Airtel may work in a few spots. Electricity is rare, so bring a power bank (solar recommended).

What food is provided?
