Into Wild Himalaya Camp, Kalath
🏔️ Altitude: 2050 m
Arrive at Into Wild Himalaya Camp, nestled in apple orchards and surrounded by pine-covered slopes. Settle into your tents or cottages and meet your instructors and fellow riders. The afternoon includes bike fitting, gear issue (helmet, gloves, hydration packs), and a briefing on the week ahead. Get familiar with the anatomy of mountain bikes and unwind by the bonfire with an open discussion on safety and trail etiquette.
Kick off the day with a warm-up and stretching session. Learn proper riding position, braking techniques, gear shifting, and body balance through drills on flat ground. Later, practice cornering, obstacle avoidance, and ride your first short trail around Kalath. The evening wrap-up includes a feedback session and rider Q&A to address individual concerns and learning goals.
Focus on developing climbing power and descending confidence. Practice uphill drills that teach body weight distribution and gear selection, followed by controlled descents on switchbacks and loose gravel. Ride a forest loop near Haripur to apply new skills in a natural setting. The day ends with a review of braking patterns, momentum control, and energy conservation tips for hill terrain.
🏔️ Altitude: ~2,050 meters (6,726 feet)
Head out for a beautiful trail ride through pine forests and along the Beas riverbanks near Old Manali. Emphasis is on group pacing, hydration strategy, and trail awareness. Post-ride, dive into a practical workshop covering essential maintenance: fixing punctures, cleaning chains, and checking tire pressure. The evening is light and reflective, giving time to rest and prepare for technical riding ahead.
Undertake a guided loop with moderate climbs, sharp descents, and technical sections with rocks, roots, and small stream crossings. Learn to maintain flow through fatigue while controlling the bike over mixed terrain. This day challenges your stamina and control while allowing space to experiment with your growing skillset. A personal progress evaluation and group reflection round out the day.
Put your learning to the test in a final morning ride that combines everything you’ve practiced—climbing, descending, gear shifting, and trail flow. Instructors observe your handling, confidence, and safety awareness. After returning to camp, enjoy a group lunch, share stories, and receive your course completion certificate in a short closing ceremony. Depart in the afternoon with skills, memories, and perhaps a new hobby for life!
