Bir Bara Banghal Trek – Remote Himalayan Adventure in Himachal Pradesh, India
The Bir Bara Banghal Trek is one of Himachal Pradesh’s most remote and culturally rich Himalayan routes, connecting Manali to Bir through deep valleys, high passes, and isolated pastoral communities. Beginning in the cedar forests of Manali, the trek journeys through wildflower meadows, river crossings, shepherd camps, and untouched alpine landscapes before descending into the Kangra Valley.
The route reaches altitudes of up to 5,080 m (16,666 ft), offering sweeping views of the Dhauladhar Range and Pir Panjal Range. Trekkers also pass through Bara Banghal, one of the most secluded villages in the Indian Himalayas, inhabited by traditional Gaddi shepherds whose lifestyle has remained unchanged for centuries.
