Day 1Arrival in Manali & Gear Check

Arrive in Manali by afternoon and meet your instructors. Get briefed on the course plan and fitted with gear—ice axe, crampons, harness, helmet. Discuss cold layering, boot fitting, and safety basics. Overnight stay in a warm guesthouse to aid acclimatization.

Day 2Drive to Lahaul & Terrain Orientation

🚗 Driving Distance: 65 km (40 miles)
⏱️ Driving Time: ~2.5 hours via Atal Tunnel
Cross into the icy world of Lahaul Valley through the Atal Tunnel. Acclimatize with a scenic walk and settle into camp or guesthouse. Evening session covers terrain reading, ice types, and cold environment risk zones. Get introduced to your climbing zone.

Day 3Ice Basics & Equipment Handling

Start training with footwork techniques—flat-footing, front-pointing, and balance drills. Practice self-arrest using an ice axe on moderate slopes. Instructors guide you on safe movement across frozen terrain. Wrap up with an evening session on ice hazard awareness.

Day 4 Tool Use, Balance & Belaying

Advance to controlled vertical movement using ice tools. Practice tool placements, swing techniques, and three-point climbing form. Learn partner safety checks, communication, and proper belaying on ice. Begin climbing short top-rope ice routes under supervision.

Day 5Anchors & Ice Rappelling

Drill anchor building with ice screws and V-thread setups. Practice rappelling down vertical ice using different systems. Learn safety checks, emergency descent methods, and crevasse awareness. A cold injuries first-aid session wraps up the day.

Day 6Outdoor Ice Climbing & Rescue Scenarios

Climb frozen waterfalls and steeper ice features. Simulate emergency rescues with assisted lowers and belay escapes. Push your limits with instructor-guided routes. Review key safety protocols and log your climb progress.

Day 7Final Climb & Return to Manali
