Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal’s vibrant capital. Our staff will receive you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Settle in and enjoy your first glimpse of the bustling city nestled in the Himalayan foothills. Relax and prepare mentally for the upcoming adventure. Evening free to explore or rest after your flight.

Day 2Official formalities, gear check, shopping

Today is set aside for official formalities, gear checks, and shopping. Meet your guides, review equipment, and purchase or rent any last-minute essentials. You’ll also receive a detailed trek briefing. Enjoy a bit of sightseeing or sample some delicious local cuisine in the lively streets of Kathmandu before the expedition begins tomorrow.

Day 3Fly to Lukla then trek to Chutanga

Take a scenic flight to Lukla (2,860 m), the gateway to Everest. From here, trek through pine forests and terraced hillsides to Chutanga (3,050 m), a peaceful settlement tucked in the lower Hinku Valley. This gentle start helps with initial acclimatization before steeper climbs begin in the coming days.

Day 4Rest day at Chutanga (acclimatization, local walk)

Acclimatization day in Chutanga. A short hike in the surrounding hills aids altitude adjustment while offering views of snow-capped peaks and alpine meadows. Rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the upcoming ascent of Zatrwa La Pass. This day is essential for safe altitude adaptation.

Day 5Trek over Zatrwa La into alpine terrain

Climb steeply up to Zatrwa La Pass (4,610 m), then descend through rocky paths to Thuli Kharka (4,100 m). This challenging day rewards you with spectacular Himalayan panoramas. Expect a mix of snow, stone trails, and stunning silence in this high-altitude alpine zone.

Day 6Descend into valley and reach Khote village

Descend into the lush Hinku Valley, following the Inkhu Khola river to reach Khote (3,700 m). This scenic day passes through forests, glacial rivers, and remote settlements. Witness the valley’s raw beauty and traditional Sherpa lifestyle. Overnight in a teahouse or camp.

Day 7Uphill trek through valley

Continue trekking up the valley to Thaknak (4,350 m), a grazing area surrounded by towering peaks and glaciers. The trail passes along moraine ridges and small streams. Views of Charpate Himal and Mera’s looming mass start to dominate the skyline. Acclimatization continues naturally.

Day 8Ascend through rugged terrain to Khare

Ascend to Khare (5,054 m), base camp for Mera Peak. The landscape becomes starker and more dramatic, with views of Mera Glacier and snow walls. Today’s moderate climb helps your body adjust to the thinning air, and Khare offers basic yet welcoming accommodation.

Day 9Training & acclimatization at Khare

Training and acclimatization day. Practice using crampons, ropes, harnesses, and ice axes. Your guides will walk you through glacier travel techniques to ensure safety. This vital day boosts confidence and helps you get comfortable with your summit gear before pushing to higher altitudes.

Day 10Gain altitude and set up high camp

Climb to Mera High Camp (5,800 m), navigating steep snow slopes and glacier terrain. Camp is perched on a rock outcrop with stunning views of Everest, Makalu, and Baruntse. The cold sets in, so you’ll rest early for the big summit day ahead.

Day 11Ascend Mera Peak and descend to Khare

Summit push! Start pre-dawn to ascend Mera Peak (6,470 m). After a steady climb across snowfields and ridges, reach the summit for breathtaking views of five 8,000 m giants. Celebrate your achievement, then descend carefully to Khare. This is the most rewarding and physically demanding day.

Day 12Descend back through valley

Trek back down to Kothe (3,700 m), retracing your steps through the remote Hinku Valley. Descend through changing landscapes, from icy ridges to greener pastures, gradually returning to thicker air and easier breathing. Overnight in Kothe near the riverside.

Day 13Uphill stretch again to Thuli Kharka

Ascend again to Thuli Kharka (4,100 m) on a longer trekking day. Re-cross alpine zones and climb gradual ridges. Expect changing weather and fluctuating energy levels after your summit success. This leg leads you back toward Lukla over remote terrain.

Day 14Final long descent to Lukla

Final trekking day. Cross Zatrwa La again and descend steeply into Lukla (2,610 m). Celebrate with your team over your final Himalayan dinner. This marks the end of your trekking journey through the wild, scenic, and secluded Hinku Valley.

Day 15Return to Kathmandu by air

Take a morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Weather permitting, enjoy one last aerial view of the Himalayas. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy the comforts of the city again. The rest of the day is free to relax.

Day 16Leisure day in Kathmandu (relax, shopping, recovery)

Leisure day in Kathmandu. Explore the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, shop for souvenirs, or unwind at a café. Optional activities include massage, meditation, or cultural walks. A great time to reflect on your journey and connect with fellow climbers.

Day 17Transfer to international departure flight

Your journey ends today. Transfer to the airport for your international departure. Leave with unforgettable memories, mountain stories, and the pride of summiting Nepal’s highest trekking peak — Mera. See you on your next Himalayan adventure.
