Overnight: Leh
Arriving at 3,500 meters, the focus today is physiological adaptation rather than riding. Ladakh’s thin air requires respect, and proper acclimatization significantly improves safety and performance in the coming days. After hotel check-in, riders attend a detailed safety briefing covering high altitude riding techniques, throttle management, hydration strategy, and emergency protocols. Motorcycles are allocated and inspected carefully. A short evening walk helps circulation without exertion. Hydration and rest are prioritized.
Total Riding Distance: 70 km
Riding Hours: 3–4 hrs
Max Altitude: 3,800 m
Total Elevation Gain: 400 m
Overnight: Leh
Today is a controlled acclimatization ride along the Indus Valley. Smooth tarmac and moderate curves allow riders to understand throttle sensitivity in thinner air while adapting to altitude breathing patterns. Stops at monasteries and riverside viewpoints create a relaxed pace. This day is essential for building riding confidence before crossing major passes. It also allows the team to observe any mechanical adjustments required before more demanding terrain begins.
Total Riding Distance: 130 km
Riding Hours: 5–6 hrs
Max Altitude: 5,359 m
Total Elevation Gain: 1,900 m
Overnight: Nubra Valley
The first major high-altitude crossing begins with a steady climb toward Khardung La at 5,359 meters. The ascent includes sharp switchbacks, changing road surfaces, and noticeable oxygen reduction. Riders must maintain disciplined throttle control and spacing. After the summit halt, the descent into Nubra Valley reveals a dramatic transition from alpine cold to desert-like terrain. The landscape widens, sand dunes appear, and the Karakoram range forms a powerful backdrop.
Total Riding Distance: 50 km
Riding Hours: 2–3 hrs
Max Altitude: 3,200 m
Total Elevation Gain: 300 m
Overnight: Nubra Valley
Today’s ride is relaxed and exploratory. Morning ascent to Diskit Monastery offers panoramic valley views before descending toward Hunder’s sand dunes. Terrain is smoother and less technical, allowing riders to enjoy the environment rather than focus on endurance. Optional short sand stretches test balance skills in a controlled setting. This lighter riding day helps recovery after the Khardung La crossing while keeping the adventure momentum alive.
Total Riding Distance: 170 km
Riding Hours: 5–6 hrs
Max Altitude: 3,200 m
Total Elevation Gain: 450 m
Overnight: Nubra Valley
The ride to Turtuk follows the Shyok River through a broad valley corridor. Roads are generally smoother but require alertness due to occasional gravel sections. The cultural shift into Baltistani territory adds depth to the experience. This is not a technically aggressive riding day; instead, it focuses on scenic rhythm and borderland atmosphere. The return ride back to Nubra unfolds with softer afternoon light across the valley.
Total Riding Distance: 180 km
Riding Hours: 6–7 hrs
Max Altitude: 4,350 m
Total Elevation Gain: 800 m
Overnight: Pangong Region
This is the adventure section of the circuit. The Shyok route is remote, less trafficked, and includes mixed surfaces ranging from smooth asphalt to rough patches and occasional riverbed crossings depending on seasonal conditions. Riders must maintain steady pacing and strong situational awareness. Arrival at Pangong Lake is dramatic, with expansive turquoise water framed by high-altitude mountains a rewarding visual climax after a demanding ride.
Total Riding Distance: 160 km
Riding Hours: 5–6 hrs
Max Altitude: 5,360 m
Total Elevation Gain: 1,100 m
Overnight: Leh
The final major pass crossing takes riders over Chang La at 5,360 meters. The ascent features steep gradients and colder wind conditions. Road quality varies near the summit, requiring focus and steady throttle discipline. After the pass, the descent toward the Indus Valley gradually improves in surface condition. Returning to Leh completes the high-altitude loop, marking a strong sense of achievement and circuit closure.
